Strangers She Never Met REVIEW! #21

Name of the book- Strangers She Never Met

Name of the author- Indranil Roy

Story of the book-

The story starts with Afreen who was frantically running to the Police station to report her boyfriend who she thought as a potential terrorist. The inspector in charge was Karan and he was furious about the potential terrorist attack as reported by Afreen. At first, he didn’t believe her and started asking her questions but when Afreen told them that they didn’t have enough time, they rushed to her apartment where her boyfriend was living on rent. From a distance they saw smoke coming out of the locality where Afreen’s house was located and when they reached, they found that her house was burning along with all her family members. This shocked Afreen to the core. All the people who were close to her were dead because she was late to report to the Police. Afreen was numb and was not responding. This forced Karan call her wife who could handle Afreen the best in this situation. The fire brigade was also called. They informed that no one survived and everything was burned so the police won’t get any evidence from the apartment. However, a terrorist escaped and fired at Afreen because she ruined their plan. She was rushed into the hospital and she survived but she had a huge scar on her cheek. She was traumatized after this experience and she didn’t know what she will do with her life. All her close ones along with her relatives were dead. She didn’t know where she will go and what she will do for her living. Karan came to visit her and told her that her wife was killed in a bomb blast as she was travelling by bus. He was in deep sorrow and wanted to avenge her death. He also had a proposal for Afreen to start a new life and save her life. However, for that, she had to leave her house and even have to change her religion. She agreed to this as she had nothing to lose. However, the things don’t go so smooth like they imagined. Her life is in danger and the terrorist group will try to kill her even after she changes everything. Karan who tries to save her will also be in danger. Will they survive? Will Karan be able to avenge his wife?

My review-

This book is of thriller genre. Karan is an inspector and fails to track a terrorist group and a terrorist attack and loses his wife. Afreen who identified that the terrorist group was living in her house on rent and her boyfriend was one of them went to the police to report a potential terrorist attack but she was late and her family was killed and her house was burnt to remove any evidence. Even they tried to kill her but she escaped luckily. This is the story how she will survive from the trauma of losing her closed ones and how Karan will avenge for her dead wife. This is one of the finest Indian thrillers I have read so far. This follows the life of two survivors who lost their most loved ones and are in danger. However, Karan never gives up and tries to track down the terrorist group and stop them to create more havoc. Karan was my favorite character in the story. He portrayed bravery, intelligence and risked his life to save the nation. Afreen also was a survivor and she was a real-life warrior. Her survival story will also inspire many and was amazing to read. The writing style of the author was easy to go through and the characters were also well described. The different instances in the story were beautifully linked together and the thrill was throughout the story. The book also portrays friendship as well as strong emotions like love, betrayal and revenge The ending was mind blowing and I couldn’t predict the ending at all. The book also covered the sensitive topic of terrorism and how innocent people die because of some ignorant people who believe in their own harmful ideologies. This book was an amazing experience and this was an amazing thriller. I would recommend everyone to read this book and devour in an amazing experience.

Cover of the book-

The cover shows picture of a girl and her cheek has a scar. Both Hindu and Muslim religion are portrayed in the picture showing the transformation of the survivor Afreen and the background has some words that are important elements of the thriller. The cover is very relatable to the story.
